About Salzburger Echo

Salzburger Echo has been together as a group since 1993. They have performed in venues from coast to coast as well as throughout Europe. Each artist carries a broad range of experience, all having been trained classically and "earning their stripes" in various performing ensembles.

Tony Brazelton -- Trumpet, Alphorn

Tony has been playing the trumpet for over 35 years, and is the heart and soul of the group. Tony handles booking, scheduling, and most of the logistics for the band's daily operations. He is also the secretary/treasurer of the American Federation of Musicians Local 104 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Steve Keen -- Accordion

What would a polka band be without the accordion? Steve is the foundation of the group's musical offering. He has played accordion, jazz piano, and keyboards professionally for over 30 years. He is also active as a professional photographer and a maker of custom contact frames. Some of his work can be seen at stephenkeenphotography.com.

Mark Pyper -- Euphonium, Cowbells, Alphorn, Vocals

The life of the band, Mark's humor and on-stage antics delight audiences of all ages. From the lively harmonization of the euphonium to the amazing yodeling, Mark is the band's front man. He has been playing brass instruments and performing in vocal and instrumental ensembles since the age of five. Mark was featured as a soloist on several occasions as a member of the University of Utah Marching Band. Mark is also an executive with the Target corporation.

Matt Pyper -- Flugel Horn, Holzernes G'lächter, Alphorns, Vocals

As the vocal lead, Matt is the voice of the band. The authenticity of the Echo's sound is enhanced by his ability to speak fluently in German. Mark's older brother, Matt has also been performing with various musical ensembles since age five. Matt sang with the Brigham Young University Men's Chorus in 1996, and as a member of the Utah National Guard, he performed with the 23rd Army Band for several years. Matt's day job is with University of Utah Health Care as a systems analyst.
